Callington vs. St Minver 1st XI – June 21 2014

Match Result: St Minver won by 74 runs.

 Another hot day, saw another good batting performance and win for St Minver. After winning the toss, St Minver posted 279-2 off their 48 overs where the outstanding score was from opener Ryan Pooley with 127 not out. Pooley hit 17 fours and a six in a match winning innings, and was well supported by Rob Hawken (61) and Warwick Abrahim who hit a rapid 47 not out off around 20 balls.

In the second innings Callington had a real go at the large total in the early overs, scoring quickly for the loss of two wickets taken by Jack Barton. First change Dennis Brown was the pick of the bowlers however, taking 3 wickets for 27 runs in a great 12 over spell, 2 of which were well taken catches by wicket keeper Ben Hawken. Other wickets from Rob Hawken (2), Jake Grubb with a sharp short ball, and spinners Luke Osborne and Warwick Abrahim meant Callington were bowled out for 205. These wickets were crucial in ensuring the 20 points that were gained to keep St Minver top of the league with just 3 balls left in the game.
