St Erme vs. St Minver 1st XI – 12 July 2014

Match Result: St Minver won by 73 runs.

Treacherous weather put St Minver’s game at St Erme in doubt for much of Saturday morning, but after good commitment from both teams a 44 over game was played where St Minver came away with a win.

After being put into bat, St Minver struggled early on with Luke Osborne (2) and Ben Hawken (16) both out early on but the innings was then temporarily rescued by a steady partnership between Warwick Abrahim who finished with 45 and Rob Hawken who made 35. However, following the dismissal of Warwick more wickets tumbled, meaning a saving innings from Andy Rathborne was required who hit a brilliant 58* with 6 fours and 2 sixes. This late knock meant St Minver were able to reach 198-9 after their 44 overs giving St Erme a difficult target.

In reply, St Erme had a very slow start with opening bowlers Dennis Brown and Jack Barton both bowling plenty of maidens to tilt the game St Minver’s way. However the pick of the bowlers Warwick Abrahim took out all of the top 4 St Erme batsman eventually finishing with 5-37 off his 11 overs. Following this, wickets from the returning openers Jack Barton (3) and Dennis Brown (2) including good catches from Luke Osborne and Ben Hawken ensured St Erme fell to 125 all out.
