St Minver 1st XI vs. Liskeard – 19 July 2014

Match Result: St Minver won by 6 wickets.

St Minver again managed to avoid any serious bad weather to pick up a 6 wicket win against Liskeard this week. Having won the toss and deciding to have a bowl first, St Minver’s seamers struggled to find a consistent line and Liskeard had a good start to their innings with the exception of an early wicket for Charlie Hawken. However, in the second half of the innings the score was slowed down well by spinners Rob Hawken and Warwick Abrahim before Dennis Brown became the pick of the bowlers with a solid spell ensuring he finished with figures of 5-33 off his ten overs. Browner’s wickets included two well taken slip catches by Ryan Pooley and the removal of the Liskeard tail meaning the innings ended with Liskeard out for 171.

St Minver’s innings was once again started well by openers Ben Hawken (36) and Ryan Pooley who went on to score another half century. With Warwick Abrahim (29), Rob Hawken (15*) and Luke Osborne (16) all chipping in with runs, St Minver were comfortably able to make the required target of 172 with 10 overs to spare.
