St Minver 1st XI vs. Callington – 2 August 2014

Match Result: St Minver won by 5 wickets.

St Minver got back to winning ways this week with a 5 wicket win over Callington. Having won the toss the side decided to bowl first on a damp wicket and got off to a good start with an early wicket for Jack Barton. Pressure was kept on by first change Jake Grubb who was unlucky not to add to his one LBW following many edges into gaps and a treacherous drop from Jack at mid off.

After a wicket for Charlie Hawken and a good eight over spell for Warwick Abrahim (2-28), Jack Barton picked up another 3 wickets to restrict Callington to 176 -9, the second of which was a sensational catch by Jake Grubb sprinting back to take a high catch over his shoulder.

In reply, St Minver got off to a shaky start with openers Will Durrant (0) and Ben Hawken (16) both out early on, however a fantastic 88 not out from Warwick Abrahim held the chase together and ensure the win. Warwick was well supported primarily by Rob Hawken who made 30, and then later in the innings where  Jack Barton (17) and Shaun Hawken (16no) helped to see the game home.
