St Minver 1st XI vs. Luckett – 16 August 2014
Match Result: St Minver won by 117 runs.
This week saw St Minver gain a great win against top of the league Luckett, meaning a close finish to the season.
St Minver lost the toss and were put in to bat, and despite the loss of Ben Hawken early on managed to reach drinks with only that one wicket down as Andy Rathborne and Warwick Abrahim provided a solid foundation to the innings. After the break Rathborne was soon stumped after scoring 23, however St Minver still managed to reach a decent 238-6 courtesy of a magnificent 129 not out from Warwick. His century included 9 fours and 5 sixes, 3 of which were straight down the ground off the final 3 balls of the innings, clearing the sight-screen by miles.
In the second innings Luckett struggled from the start, with Dennis Brown picking up 2 wickets including the “big wicket” of Andrew Brenton LBW. Wickets were then picked up by Jake Grubb, Rob Hawken and a sensational run out from wicket keeper Ben Hawken before Warwick Abrahim followed up his 129* with 4 wickets for 15 runs off 10 overs. The match was then wrapped up with Luckett on just 121 when debutant Phil Williams picked up a wicket following another great catch from Jake Grubb.
Man of the Match = Warwick Abrahim (just).
