Werrington vs. St Minver 1st XI – 30 August 2014
Match Result: St Minver won by 137 runs.
St Minver managed a comfortable win this weekend away at Werrington ensuring their push for promotion to County one will go down to the final weekend.
After a slow start saw Steve Hawke and Warwick Abrahim both out in single figures, a 90 run partnership between Ben Hawken and Sparton Junior steadied the ship with Ben going on to score his second ton in as many innings. Eventually out for 127, Ben’s innings carried the team to finish on 210 -9. Dennis Brown provided a late cameo of 27 not out to help push the score over 200 making up for a failing middle order scoring just 2 runs!
After tea, St Minver bowled and fielded brilliantly, resulting in Werrington falling to just 73 all out. After tight opening spells from Warwick Abrahim and Jack Barton keeping the run rate at around 1 an over, Jake Grubb continued to keep it equally tight first change and picked up two wickets both caught behind by Ben Hawken, who also managed a great stumping off a rare leg side ball from Warwick. Phil Williams picked up 2 wickets later in the innings, before Warwick bowled the number 11 to finish with figures of 4-10 off 10.3 overs.
Man of the Match = Ben Hawken.
